World AIDS Day conference with the theme of achieving to zero, zero new cases of HIV infection, stigma and discrimination, and zero deaths from AIDS was held on November 29th in Tehran University of Medical Sciences conference hall.
National response to the AIDS epidemic, national anti-drug policies, social protection of HIV/ AIDS and the role of legislators in support of the people and HIV/AIDS prevention, control programs in prisons and health advocacy organizations were the most important programs in this one-day conference.
The event was held with presence of government and international representatives, and NGOs, Dr. Mesdaghi Nia had a speech about the HIV and AIDS situation in Iran. The ceremony continued by reading the message from UN Secretary General and Director of the World Health Organization Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office followed by the lecture of the Representatives from the Center for Disease Management of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, Prisons’ Organization and Welfare Organization.
An exhibition was organized at the conference venue to present activities conducted by related organizations and the Medical Universities.
