Sathya Doraiswamy

Dr Sathya Doraiswamy is the UNFPA Representative in the Islamic Republic of Iran. He has over 20 years of experience in academia, government, NGOs, and in the United Nations (UNHCR and UNFPA). His academic background is a Bachelor in Medicine/ Surgery and Masters in Community Medicine from Chennai, India. He holds a Doctor of Health from the University of Bath, UK. He has graduate diplomas in Applied Population Research, Applied Statistics and Human Resource Management. He has worked and taught in Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, Europe and the Middle-East in various capacities. Much of his career has been in supporting humanitarian health responses for refugees and other conflict-affected populations. He has several publications in leading journals and has presented in many global conferences.
