On May 19, UNFPA Iran joined Iran's Scientific Midwifery Association and the Ministry of Health and Medical Education in celebrating the 'International Day of the Midwife 2022' in an event graced by the presence of Dr. Nahid Khodakarami, Head of the association, the UN Resident Coordinator, Mr. Stefan Priesner, Dr. Sathya Doraiswamy, UNFPA Representative in Iran, Ms. Ghazal Shakeri, well-known Iranian actress, experts from WHO, UNICEF, UNAIDS, and hundreds of young midwifery students and midwives.
As the last segment of the event, Radha Music Band, a famous Iranian music group performed some traditional Iranian songs.

UNFPA is pleased to commemorate #IDM2022 with its partners and celebrate the contribution of Iranian midwives to the development of the nation.
