In a significant move towards healthcare inclusivity, the UNFPA, through a targeted initiative, has granted cash cards to 2,626 vulnerable Afghan refugee women in the provinces of Sistan, Baluchistan, South Khorasan, Khorasan Razavi, Golestan, Isfahan, and Tehran. The cash cards aim to offset the premium costs of Universal Public Health Insurance (UPHI) and are specifically designated for pregnant women, those with family members facing special illnesses, and women with disabilities.  The initiative was made possible with the partnership of Relief International, UNHCR, and the National Organization for Migration.

The initiative's initial enrollment phase garnered positive feedback, emphasizing the tangible benefits of comprehensive health insurance for vulnerable populations. This proactive step reflects UNFPA's commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility and empowering women in Iran.
