In a significant step toward enhancing the quality of life for individuals with hearing impairments, the UNFPA Iran Country Office has procured 1,000 hearing aids to be distributed by the State Welfare Organization (SWO). The procurement aims to bolster the government's initiatives in improving the lives of people living with disabilities, with a particular focus on women and girls.
The hearing aids will be distributed across rehabilitation and residential care centers in selected provinces, including Kerman, Sistan & Baluchestan, North Khorasan, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Semnan, and Kermanshah. This strategic distribution ensures that individuals in various regions of the country will benefit from improved auditory support.
UNFPA's commitment to promoting the rights of women and young people with disabilities is evident in this activity. Recipients of the hearing aids are anticipated to experience a range of benefits, including enhanced communication and cognitive function. The devices will contribute to reducing stress in social situations, improving awareness of potential risks in daily life and workplaces, boosting work performance, and facilitating fuller participation in social and recreational activities.
