As part of the joint country programme between the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), “Tomorrow is Bright” is the name of an initiative intending to pave the way for the socio-economic empowerment of women, including women with disabilities, female heads of households, and marginalized youth in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Provinces of Iran.
Building Skills for a Sustainable Future
The project focuses on enhancing technical and vocational skills to boost employability and income generation among people living in vulnerable situations, especially women and youth. Implemented by the Technical and Vocational Training Organization (TVTO) under the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare, the initiative provided vocational and business training to 60 women with disabilities, 330 female heads of households, and 100 youth.
Recognizing that market access is key to economic independence, the initiative prioritized creating a digital room equipped with essential ICT tools. This room serves as a dedicated space where trainees can prepare their products for online sales and connect with digital marketplaces.
Connecting Local Talent with Global Markets
To strengthen the initiative’s impact, TVTO, the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare, and UNFPA partnered with Digikala, the largest online marketplace in the Middle East. Through this collaboration, local entrepreneurs gained access to digital marketing platforms, allowing them to showcase and sell their products online.
The partnership aims to accelerate sales, improve market access, and generate sustainable income streams, moving beneficiaries toward economic self-sufficiency. By facilitating digital economic participation, the project is enabling long-term socio-economic empowerment for its target communities.
Looking ahead, there is an intention to expand the initiative beyond Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province. Plans are underway to replicate the successful pilot model in other provinces, potentially benefiting a broader population of women, youth, and people living in vulnerable situations across Iran.
Through this collaborative effort, TVTO, Digikala, and UNFPA are investing in a brighter future—one where socio-economic empowerment transforms lives and communities across Iran.
