It is with great emotion that I announce that our Executive Director, Dr. Babatunde Osotimehin, UNFPA executive director since 2010, Professor, as we called him, passed away suddenly at his home last night. He was 68 years old. He has been a powerful advocate for the rights, health and dignity of women, girls, and young people around the world. He was close and present for people in needs, especially for those facing humanitarian crises.
Professor, you will be dearly missed and we will continue to stand up for the human rights and dignity of everyone, particularly the most vulnerable.
